Nichiren Buddhism

The 13th-century Japanese monk Nichiren founded this school of Buddhism, which now has several major schools and sub-schools. Nichiren is a mostly devotional form of Buddhism that venerates the Lotus Sutra (Saddharma-pundarika Sutra) as the complete and perfect expression of the Buddha's teachings.

Soka Gakkai International (SGI) is a sometimes controversial lay Buddhist organization that claims more than 12 million members worldwide.
